About Us

Our Story

Trinity Baptist Church, formerly known as Muskegon Heights Baptist Church, began in 1887 through meeting in a department store. Construction of a church building began in August of 1891. The church enjoyed many years of God’s blessing in the Muskegon Heights location. As more and more members moved to the suburbs, a beautiful piece of land was purchased on Sheridan Drive in Fruitport Township with the goal of relocation. The new building was first occupied in June of 1968. Since that time, a 5,700 square foot addition has been completed. Today, after more than 120 years, Trinity Baptist Church is still celebrating God’s goodness!

Our Mission

Believing that it is God’s ultimate desire for all mankind to be saved and maturing in Christ, we commit ourselves to fulfilling God’s vision for Trinity Baptist Church through the aggressive, purposeful and planned pursuits of evangelism, discipleship, and fellowship.

Our Values

We value sound Christian doctrine, upholding the Word of God as our ultimate authority.

We value the regular gathering of Christ’s followers within the local church.

We value families as a God-given unit for proper relationships to be modeled and for morals to be instill

Our Beliefs

We believe in one God, maker of heaven and earth, and eternally existent as God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.

We believe the Bible is the Word of God and without error. We believe in its authority for conduct, belief, and practice.

We believe in the deity of Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His sacrificial death on the cross, that He rose bodily from the grave, ascended into heaven, and will return to earth in power and glory.

We believe that people were created in the image of God with emotions, intellect and the freedom of choice.

We believe that through Adam all people obtained a sin nature and are now sinners by birth and by choice, deserving eternal punishment in hell.

We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ died so that people may be eternally saved from the wrath of God, be forgiven of sin, be justified, and be reconciled to God. This salvation is a free gift of God’s grace to all who believe through faith.

We believe there is a literal heaven and hell. One is the eternal home of those who accepted Jesus, that other is the eternal result of those who have rejected Him.

We believe that a New Testament church is a local body of baptized believers, organized for worship, service, and the spread of the Gospel through out the world.

We believe the two ordinances of the church are baptism by immersion and the Lord’s Supper; they are representations of the Lord’s death and resurrection for the believer.
